Where Have I Been?

Processed with VSCO with acg preset

This weekend I attended the Atlanta Record and CD Show, hosted by Atlanta Record Show.  I hadn’t had the chance to go record shopping in a long time, so when I heard about this event I was excited.  Record enthusiast all around Georgia were in attendance, and I was impressed at the selections of Vinyl records they had for sale.  I bought a few random records but when I found the original vinyl record soundtrack to the 1978 film, “The Wiz” produced by Quincy Jones, performers included, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Lena Horne, Richard Pryor and Nipsey Russell.  This was a classic, I just had to have.

Last year August I had the opportunity to work with a couple of my colleagues in Los Angeles for a few days and I fell in love with LA. Besides the beautiful beaches, and the industry connects I got when I went, I was captivated by the art culture in the city. We went to visit a friend Rachel who recently moved to Cali from Atlanta. It turned out the studio she worked at (Windmark Recording), which holds art exhibitions, was showing Knowledge Bennett’s work, a dope LA based artist. I instantly became a fan and even started following his work via IG. Knowledge Bennett currently has an exhibit in New York at Joseph Gross Gallery called “Orange Is The New Black” that will be running till December 3rd. If your in that area you should check him out.

Wish List Item:

Phonon SMB-02 Headphones

I remember the first time I heard of these headphones. I was visiting my engineer friend/mentor Hernan Santiago. We talked about our experiences in the industry for a few and then he said, “Hey, you have to hear these new headphones I just got, I’ve been waiting for a minute for these. They were hard to find.” He then played a few records he was currently working on through the Phonon SMB-02. I listened to them, but then I chose a song that I was constantly listening to at the time, (Drake – Legend) and I instantly heard things in the record that I didn’t hear before. I was immediately impressed. Everything was clear, without any exaggeration. From then it’s been on my wish list.
