The journey started with Kurt watching a documentary starring Jermaine Dupree as he gave valued information regarding the importance and role of the engineer.  What he thought was going to be another program on TV became enthralling and intriguing.  Kurt knew at that moment that this was his path, his destiny. Kurt knew that’s what he wanted to do, become an engineer.

Enrolling in Mercy College, located in White Plains, New York, Kurt received his Bachelors in Music Industry and Technology. While at Mercy College Kurt produced and mixed his first song, for a class project, receiving recognition as one of the top projects in the class.
Upon graduation, Kurt began interning at Universal, working under Bruce Carbone, A&R Sr. Vice President. However, being more interested in the creative process, Kurt took to a studio position in the Bronx working with artists like Fat Joe, Mad Cobra, Elephant Man, and Fatman Scoop. While learning the technicalities as an engineer, Kurt also dabbled in production, rapidly reaching industry quality. Kurt Lindsay’s love for learning technical structure of engineering opened the opportunity for him to work with Dame Dash Music Group artist, Rell. From the multiple tracks, a single was selected. However due to the label going under, the album was not released. The album’s failure to be released triggered a downward spiral of events in this young engineer’s life.

Multiple mishaps, both personal and professional, prompted Kurt to return to school where he obtained an electrician certificate. He began working for a contracting company, although secure, there was no happiness. After a two and a half year hiatus, Kurt decided to return to his passion; engineering. He later moved to Atlanta, landing an internship with a prominent studio in the Norcross area. The internship quickly turned into an engineering position, where he recorded Musiq Soulchild, Elijah Blake, and artist from Grand Hustle, such as Spodee, French Kiss, and Iggy Azalea. This position also gave Kurt the opportunity to record and mix Mickey Factz, Cyhi the Prince and Diamond D for their projects. Most notable, while in this position, Kurt received credits on 2 Chainz’ debut album “B.O.A.T.S as Assistant Mix Engineer, earning him his first plaque for being on a certified gold album.

Through setbacks, hardships, and constantly studying his craft, Kurt has prepared himself for the success to come. There is no stopping this #EngineerOnDaComeUp.
